The common belief is that superannuation is 9% of wages and it is increasing to 12% in the near future. However, you are only required to pay superannuation on the ordinary times earnings, which is the ordinary hours of work and includes commissions, shift loadings and allowances. It does not include overtime.

The contribution increased from 9.25% to 9.5% from the 1st July 2014.
