This webinar enables us to explore the product package that ESS BIZTOOLS have developed, to guide you on this in-depth due diligence review of your client’s processes, to assist you to supply an outstanding commercial range of services which will add value to your client’s business.

The “why” has been clearly summarised as follows: “Ominous words were used to describe what the majority of SMEs have faced over the last couple of years – challenging, difficult, unprecedented, demanding.”
However, looking forward, the new mantra for SMEs should be: “The past has no future.”
In 2023 and beyond, turning the focus to strategies that can bring growth to revenue and profit is key for SMEs”. Thomson Reuters, white paper “Leading Australian SMEs in 2023s Changing Economy”.
Accountants are the logical service providers to supply the information and data that SMEs require in these challenging times. SMEs will not acquire that information and data just from the preparation of annual financial accounts and income tax returns.
They need more!
For the last 30 years, the accountancy profession has nibbled at the concept of supplying a broader range of professional services. There have been many false starts, excuses and delays.
The above quotation clearly identifies there is no more time for delays.
Thousands of businesses are suffering in Australia. This webinar will explore how accounting firms and your team members can assist your clients to survive.
We look forward to you joining us in this informative webinar. Please remember – it is only 60 days to 30 June 2023 – now is the time for action!

The library is a perfect companion to the detailed “how to do it” material contained within ESS BIZTOOLS.

More and more clients are expected to be seeking a 52-week-of-the-year accounting service, rather than periodic discussions during the year and a one-hour meeting after the annual financial accounts and income tax return have been prepared.
Clients who are keen to scale up their business and grow it, so that the business value increases, know that they need to have strong financial controls within their business.
In the ESS BIZTOOLS system, this starts with the weekly performance report and then moves into detailed monthly accounts, compared to budgets and cash flow forecasts and KPI analysis, together with a financial report on the month’s performance that is submitted for discussion, at the monthly business review meeting attended by the leadership team.

Research and Development (R&D) presents a challenge to many accountants in public practice in Australia. It’s surprising to find an accountant who promotes this as part of their service offering.
Thousands of SMEs all over Australia participate in the R&D program, and in so doing, gain significant taxation advantages. This is proven by the statistics released by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources, which indicated that in 2021/22, the refundable tax offset for small companies (annual turnover less than $20million) was estimated to be $2.54billion.
This a lot of tax offset that is earned by SMEs. However, several accountants indicate that they know very little about R&D. Where will the SMEs go for advice?
This webinar will provide an overview of how R&D operates, which will give you adequate knowledge and understanding to enable you to provide an initial advice to your SME clients.

Time Update – It Is Only 37 Days (from the day of this webinar) to 30 June 2023!
“Much of the Australian labour market has been described as tight and candidates short. In fact, the current unemployment rate for Australia of 3.5% is the lowest it’s been since 1974. Businesses have struggled to attract, hire and retain staff and this has become a key hurdle to growth across all sectors.” This is an excerpt from Thomson Reuters’ White Paper, “Leading Australian SMEs in 2023s Changing Economy”.
Team members want to engage in meaningful work. As the key financial advisor to SMEs, it is part of our responsibility to discuss with to them “the power of meaningful work”.
“Through eternal surveys and external data, employees tell us that purposeful, meaningful work is an important driver attached to job satisfaction and retention.”
What role can you play to assist your SME clients to improve their performance of attracting and retaining staff?
The SMEs track record as a reliable employer of choice is very important.
Prospective team members need to be able to clearly identify the purpose and values of the organisation that they are considering applying to join.
Your clients will benefit from gathering feedback continuously during the year as to how the firm is rated by team members – activities such as pulse surveys, and specific research activities.
Some employers have found that focusing on a social impact agenda will assist in the attraction of outstanding applicants and retaining the key talent within their business.
This webinar will further explore this concept of attracting and retaining suitable talent for your firm.

“The past has no future” was the key quotation in the “Leading Australian SMEs in 2023 Is Changing Economy” White Paper, produced by Thomson Reuters.
The key messages from this White Paper for public accountants were as follows:
- “For many, cash is tight” – we all know that, but what are you doing for your clients? For example, have you conducted a line by line review of their expenses to see what savings could be made?
- “Online training is very important” and there is the possibility that some of your clients could undertake this activity has a revenue producer.
- “We must grow to survive” – how can you assist your clients to grow so that they can survive? Most of them will need assistance on the preparation of growth strategies, which could then be incorporated into their business plan, budgets, cash forecast and projected balance sheets.
- What is the “potential for the development of new markets” for your client? Prepare SWOT analysis on individual projects to firm up on a strategy.
- Your client might need additional funding for the business – it could be very beneficial for your client if you raise that question now and explore where that funding might be sourced. Whichever funding source is chosen – loans or capital raising by the issue of shares in the company – your client is going to require a business plan, budget, cash way forecasts and projected balance sheets. Exactly the same kind of data that clients will need in their endeavours to grow to survive.
There is a clear message here for accountants. In the past, many of us have ignored these key documents that are definitely required by business in the future if they are going to be successful.
It is now only 53 days to 30 June 2023!
This webinar will provide an understanding of how you can implement strategies for your client which are not relying on the past.
