The Tradie Charge out Rate Calculator gives accountants and bookkeepers a great opportunity to be able to discuss with Tradie clients the implementation of a “Business Improvement System”, to assist the Tradie Principal to have far more information than what most Tradies currently have to help them run a better business.
The Tradie Charge out Rate Calculator identifies the hourly charge out rate to be applied for the individual team member classifications based on their expected productivity, working hours, salary and superannuation.
The Charge out Rate Calculator also reflects the estimated income to be generated from the mark-up on external purchases purchased on clients’ behalf.
These calculations give the Tradie a snapshot of their performance expectations for a year showing their turnover and estimated profitability.
This information should be collated on a monthly basis. Then a Business Review Meeting could be held to consider the results and decide whether there should be adjustments made to the charge out rates, because of that month’s results.
Compare this approach to what normally happens with a Tradie client. It is probably six to nine months after the end of the financial year that a set of financial accounts are prepared. The Tradie is then informed that they did not charge enough money during the year to generate the profit target.
This is not the way to run a business in 2023. All businesses require regular accurate financial data during the year.
