It starts with a plan!
Business Advisory Services Update
The foundation for all successful businesses is that they have a plan. This is the “BUSINESS PLAN”.
You may have got to this stage by having a “one-on-one meeting” with your client – reviewing what your client thought were the key issues within the business.
If you are going to prepare a business plan, you need to ask this question: What keeps your client awake at night?
If you are using “SME Needs Analysis Questionnaire”, developed by ESS BIZTOOLS, you will have raised the following issues on current business performance – do you have any concerns with:
- Daily/weekly information that you’re receiving ?
- Is there a need to improve the overall financial performance of the business?
- Debtors management – in particular the debtors days outstanding
- Cash flow management
- Budgets and cash flow forecast
- Suppliers
- Marketing
- Your team
- Customers
- Competitors – do you have a system to monitor them?
- Business building matrix – you could show your client the benefit of slight manipulations on various components of the business process
- Corporate governance
- Advisory board
- Government grants
- Personal Property Securities Register
- Research and Development
- Exporting
- Costs of operation
- Risks
- Funding – need to raise capital?
These are some of the issues that you would cover in the preparation of a business plan.
ESS BIZTOOLS has developed a comprehensive package of services, to assist Accountants and Bookkeepers to deliver “ADVISORY SERVICES”, which includes “BUSINESS PLANNING”. This is the document that the leadership team express their VISION for the business. They need your knowledge and experience to document the plan and to provide ongoing action plan review.
