The SMEs who were interviewed identified that they would benefit from regular review and update of their business plan and strategies, in order to identify new opportunities for growth and to set clear goals.
Is your accounting firm proactively promoting the preparation and review of business plans to your SME clients?
Another major issue is business financing. With rising interest rates, many SMEs will be evaluating the potential to either borrow additional money, or to attempt to raise capital from the public by Crowd Sourced Funding Equity Raising, Section 708 of the Corporations Act, or presenting to Venture Capitalists and Business Angel Groups.
This type of activity presents significant opportunities for accounting firms relative to the preparation of the documentation required including business plan, budgets, cash flow forecasts and projected balance sheets, as well as the opportunity to advise clients on the implementation of appropriate Corporate Governance issues.
