Start the conversation with the SME Needs Analysis

Unsure where to start with having a conversation with some clients about implementing advisory services?

Why not visit one or two clients with the SME Needs Analysis, developed by ESS BIZTOOLS?

The SME Needs Analysis includes a series of questions to encourage your client to tell you about their concerns relating to the business.

You could read the SME Needs Analysis beforehand and select the questions that you intend to ask. Listen carefully to your client’s comments, take notes and try to identify what help the client needs.

Our members have been utilising the SME Needs Analysis for over 20 years. The process works! It helps identify what is worrying your clients.

You don’t have to have all the answers to your client’s questions. What you may be able to do is to organise the right people to answer specific questions. Your role is to identify the issues and then help your client identify people with the skills and knowledge to assist them in a particular area.

This is what happens in a Public Company. Whilst the CFO might be the focal person for a wide range of general matters, the CFOs role is to assist if they can. If they’re unable to, find someone with the expertise who can solve a particular problem – either in-house or externally. The key outcome is that the problem has been identified and that someone has been allocated, hired or appointed to fix that problem for your client.
