“There been numerous discussions as to what the rights and obligations are for SME employers relative to a business’ workforce, visitors to business premises and customers relative to COVID-19 vaccinations”.

Jordan Lowry, Managing Director of Blackstone Business Group has made some comments on the recent announcement by BHP relating to COVID-19 vaccinations and has made some suggestions on the approach that SMEs could take.

Jordan Lowry concluded by recommending that “SME employers should be adopting a similar strategy to what BHP has done whereby you would identify:

The risk that you perceive to your workforce, customers, visitors if you do not implement a vaccination strategy;
Document what your strategy is so that in the event that you need to take action you can refer to your COVID-19 strategy which should reflect the variables which relate to your business;
Develop an Implementation Plan for your strategy;
Communicate your strategy to your team members, contractors, clients and inform visitors to your sites and offices.”
