Lockdown Easing Presents Accountants Diversification Opportunities!
Accountant's Minute 290
The announcements by some of the state Premiers of an easing of lockdown laws once a predetermined number of the state’s residents have received two of the COVID-19 injections has encouraged some enthusiasm from business operators that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that they might be able to get back into what they do best – running their businesses in an efficient manner.
Many of these SME clients are going to be looking to their accountants, bookkeepers, business advisors or Chief Financial Officers to guide them through the difficult business environment that will still exist and will probably exist for the next few years.
This will present significant diversification opportunities for accountants who are monitoring the situation and have taken this period of time, before the easing of lockdown restrictions, to ensure that their firm will be able to deliver a range of services to assist clients to meet the marketplace challenges.
Some of these services could include:
- Business planning preparation
- Predictive Accounting Reports – Budgets – Cash Flow Forecast – Projected Balance Sheets
- Working capital improvement to improve the businesses liquidity position – Debtors Analysis – Inventory Analysis
- Assisting SME clients to evaluate the benefits to them in seeking to raise capital direct from the public if they are having difficulties in raising loan funds which might be caused by them not having sufficient assets to offer as security for a loan. The capital raising opportunities include:
- Crowd Sourced Funding Equity Raising which has seen a 125% increase in money invested in the last 12 months
- Early Stage Innovation Company Capital Raising – ideal for “young companies” that have undertaken research and development activities and great for the investors because they get some taxation benefits!
- Section 708 Corporations Act Capital Raising
- Identifying clients that have been undertaking research projects during the lockdown periods and who are now interested in understanding how they can claim income tax benefits for that research and how do they go about placing the research activities on a proper research and development business basis.
ESS BIZTOOLS has developed product packages that are ready for use by accountants to deliver these services and more to SME clients.
